Scotland 2007 |

From 23rd of February until 02nd of March a fifth climbing seminar took place in Glemur Lodge, Scotland. Location was chosen due to proximity of routes the organiser was British Mountaineering Council (BMC). Many World recognised climbers took part. Naming all of them may drag me into a trap to forget to list some. A typical day would be: Waking up and breakfast at 7am. Going to routes and usually, straight from there we would get back for supper. Projections would normally be straight after. We would watch last year first-time-routes such as ‘Canada’, ‘Pakistan’, etc. The weather was slightly better than recent seminars had. As a result we climbed 5 out of six days. According to Scottish standards this is very good. First day, we climbed Northern Cairngorms because it was the closest place for climbing. The other reason was too warm time which made our choice limited. Nevertheless it was good to start with. Second day, we attempted the highest peak in Scotland Ben Nevis. The weather allowed us to climb ‘Tower Ridge’ only. It is the longest route in Britain but safe from avalanche since it is crest. Third day we were back at Ben Nevis. Finally we had the chance to climb icy ‘Caledonia’ route. Fourth day, Dave Macleod took us to local drill field due to worsen weather. Fifth day, in spite of not promising weather report we decided to attempt Northern Cairngorms. We completed pretty good mix of three different routes ‘Three Corners’ and two others. Sixth day was meant to bring better weather according to forecasts but that certainly wasn’t my impression. My host and I went to route ‘Savage Slit’. This was the last day crowned with some evening party. As a matter of fact, my host was available even on the seventh day. With him and his friends I had one more successful and enjoyable climbing day. Good weather and even better route. All in all it was phenomenal experience. I am grateful to all the people from BMC, to my hosts Nick Wallis, Simon Gall and Christine Peterson.
